Cecilia De Marziis

Ph.D. Associate at S&P. Member of the Bar of Rome.

Cecilia joined S&P in 2016.

Cecilia specializes in national and international litigation in the field of public international law and human rights. She assists the firm in the representation of a wide range of clients before the Italian jurisdictions, the European Court of Human Rights and other international judicial and quasi-judicial bodies.

Cecilia has solid experience in matters relating to fair trial guarantees in criminal and civil proceedings, right of access to justice, notably in environmental matters, the protection of migrants and asylum seekers, right to reparation for international crimes, right to property and right to respect for private and family life.

Cecilia obtained her Ph.D. cum laude in International Law from the University of Macerata. While working on her doctoral thesis, Cecilia was a Visiting Fellow at Sorbonne University in Paris. From 2022 to 2023, she was Postdoctoral Research Fellow in International Law at Sapienza University of Rome. Her main research interests include State responsibility, reparation for violations of human rights and international humanitarian law and transitional justice.

She lectures regularly on human rights and has written on various topics of international law and human rights.
