Health and environment
S&P provides advice and legal representation to protect health, communities and environment.
Our lawyers have a consolidated expertise and reputation to advise and to appear in cases concerning injuries and fatalities caused by medical malpractice or environmental pollution. We are regularly instructed to act before international tribunals and bodies, including the European Court of Human Rights and the UN Human Rights Committee. Hospital negligence can lead to blood transfusion errors that result in injuries and even fatalities
Professor Andrea Saccucci is a member of the panel on Climate Change of Doughty Street International.

Our lawyers have been involved in cutting-edge litigation concerning, inter alia:

  • contamination of air and land by airborne dioxins and chemicals
  • contamination of industrial and domestic water supplies
  • participation of local communities in decision-making process on environmental issues under the Aarhus Convention
  • compensation for infections following blood transfusions
  • liability for medical malpractice
  • procedural obligations in health-related domestic proceedings, including tort-based actions

In these areas, S&P offers a multidisciplinary approach and is specialized in providing assistance in cases which touch upon other areas of law (international law, civil law, administrative law, criminal law), also in close cooperation with domestic and foreign law firms.

In addition, S&P represents also NGOs and associations in strategic litigations and in the filing of amicus curiae submissions, particularly before the Constitutional Court, the European Court of Human Rights and the UN Human Rights Committee.
