Diversity and inclusion
S&P provides advice and legal representation in matters of diversity and inclusion.
Our lawyers have a consolidated reputation to advise and to appear in cases concerning the protection of diversity and inclusion, as well as the principles of equality and non-discrimination, in the workplace, for access to welfare, and for recognition of social, civil and economic rights. We are regularly instructed to act before international tribunals and bodies, including the European Court of Human Rights, the UN Human Rights Committee, the European Committee of Social Rights and the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Our lawyers have been involved in cutting-edge litigation concerning, inter alia:

  • recognition of rights provided by law no. 104/1992, that protects persons with disabilities and their relatives
  • support to family caregivers
  • recognition of economic and social rights for private and public employees
  • unfair dismissal
  • appeals against expulsion orders
  • legal recognition of gender identity
  • recognition of foreign birth certificates showing two parents of the same sex
  • protection of mental health of detainees

In these areas, S&P offers a multidisciplinary approach and is specialized in providing assistance in relation to a wide array of discriminatory conduct (age, disability, recognition of gender, marriage and civil partnership, maternity, religion, sexual orientation), with particular regards to the protection offered by Article 14 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR)

In addition, S&P represents also NGOs and associations in strategic litigations and in the filing of amicus curiae submissions, particularly before the Constitutional Court, the European Court of Human Rights, the UN Human Rights Committee, the European Committee of Social Rights and the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
